Recession in the US

Fair weather for a while yet
Under the slightly ironic title, ’’Is it different this time?’’, investment director Kristoffer Stensrud of SKAGEN Funds and investment director Jarle Ulvin of Odin Forvaltning, opened a breakfast meeting organised by SpareBank 1 SR-bank; Odin Forvaltning and SKAGEN Funds. According to Stensrudn there are two aspects that are different this time, in contrast to all the other times when the stock markets have fluctuated.

Eurozone to increase interest rates
The European Central Bank will most likely increase the base rate to 2.25% on the 1st December. The Fed will probably increase interest rates to 4.5 percent in January. No new interest rate is expected in Norway until March. Long interest rates, both abroad and at home, will remain stable at a low level. In spite of high energy prices, underlying inflation in most countries is low, and there are no signs of slower growth. Get a complete overview of the macro economic picture in ”Verden sett fra SKAGEN” (in Norwegian).
