SKAGEN is an independent and partner owned management company with a long and successful history in managing equity and fixed income funds. Since its establishment in 1993 the company has grown to become one of the largest investment fund managers in Norway with a growing presence in Europe.

Vision and ideology
SKAGEN Funds vision is "to become the world's best independent fund manager in terms of risk adjusted returns, communication and service". Historical returns for our funds since inception have been world-class, so we are well on our way to fulfilling our vision.

Investment philosophy
SKAGEN Funds adheres to an applied value based investment philosophy and has a broad mandate, which means that its managers may freely choose shares in companies on stock exchanges worldwide. We are looking for companies that are undervalued, under-researched and unpopular.

Our team
The objective of our team at SKAGEN Funds is to provide our clients with the best possible risk adjusted returns – as well as providing the best possible communication, service and follow-up.

Ownership
Together the three founders of SKAGEN Funds, Åge Westbø, Kristoffer Stensrud and Tor Dagfinn Veen own the majority of the A-shares in SKAGEN AS. The remaining A-shares are equally divided between Managing Director Harald Espedal and fund managers Filip Weintraub and Kristian Falnes.

Portfolio management
SKAGEN Funds’ portfolio managers are a diversified group with different and complementary backgrounds. All share a strong belief in the company’s contrarian investment style – a long-term approach that requires patience, dedication and thorough research.

Board of Directors
The Board of Directors of SKAGEN AS has representatives for both the owners of the management company and the unit owners of the funds. The external directors have broad knowledge and experience from industry, banking and finance.

Ethics and Regulations
The assets of SKAGEN Funds unit owners are safeguarded by the authorities’ strict regulations regarding fund management. In addition we have our own internal control procedures and ethical guidelines.
